2015 Federal Tax Update for Tax and Financial Planning Professionals

An update on the latest federal income tax changes affecting individuals and small businesses, including strategies to minimize the 3.8% net investment income tax, new rules on IRA rollovers and the impact of the Affordable Care Act on small employers.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

  • Participants will be able to advise individuals on strategies to deal with the tiered capital gain rates and minimization of the 3.8% net investment income tax.
  • Apply the limited choices available to small business and non-profit employers on health-related fringe benefits in 2015 and after under the Affordable Care Act.
  • Apply the latest IRS guidance to client IRA rollover transactions, interpreting brokerage 1099-B statements and other financial transactions.

Andy Biebl is a tax partner specializing in individual and closely-held business taxation and agricultural taxation. He has both national and local firm experience, and has conducted tax training for other tax professional for over 30 years.Author and instructor of Tax Advisors Update and Farm Taxation Update. Co-author of several tax publications for PPC/ThomsonReuters, as well as former co-author of continuing professional education tax seminars for ThomsonReuters and American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). In addition to authorship activities, Andy has spoken at numerous seminars and conferences throughout the country. He is a past recipient of the AICPA Outstanding Discussion Leader Award, and also a past recipient of Outstanding Discussion Leader Awards for Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska CPA Societies.

Andy has a Bachelor’s in Economics and Accountancy from St. Johns University, one year of post-graduate school at the Minnesota Graduate School of Business, and served as an adjunct faculty member in the University of Minnesota Masters of Business Taxation program for 20 years. He is a past president of the Minnesota Society of CPAs.
